About this Mod

Overview

Herobrine Companion is a mod that completely reimagines the legendary Herobrine figure. He is no longer a ghost that merely stares at you, but a living companion with complex emotions, rich interactions, and a complete backstory. He observes your every action, remembers each of your conversations, changes his attitude based on your choices, and provides protection beyond imagination once you earn his trust.

Getting Started

Herobrine spawns randomly in the Overworld, preferring dark environments with a light level of 7 or below, and often appears 8-16 blocks near the player. You can also use the hb command in the chat to summon him immediately (usable only once). Interact with him primarily by right-clicking to open an interface for trading, checking trust, and accepting quests. You can also hold specific items (e.g., the "Creator's Contract") and right-click him to issue commands such as teleporting to a designated location, resting, or guarding.

To increase trust, you can trade, complete commissions he issues through the interface, or collect Legendary Fragments.

Note: Only one Herobrine can exist per save file.

Simple Mind System

Herobrine has a dynamic mindset system that switches between various states based on your actions: Observer, Guardian, Judge, Trickster, Maintainer, Nostalgic, King of Monsters… Each mindset influences his words and behavior. When you enjoy building, farming, and actively inviting him, he gradually becomes a gentle guardian. If you attack him, he turns into a Judge. If many items drop or explosions occur, he becomes a Maintainer. Using many Legendary Fragments at once triggers his Nostalgic state. Killing many monsters shifts him to King of Monsters.

  • Observer: Watches you from high places, leaving torches along his path.
  • Guardian: Gives you buffs like Regeneration and Resistance.
  • Judge: Ignores you when right-clicked.
  • Trickster: Increases prank probability: places fake chests, strips leaves.
  • Maintainer: Clears excessive item drops and restores blocks destroyed by explosions.
  • Nostalgic: Stays in place and sighs.
  • King of Monsters: Buffs nearby monsters and adjusts monster formations.

All states adjust dynamically according to player behavior.

Idle Animations

His idle animations include:

  • Floating in meditation, surrounded by mysterious particles.
  • Holding his scythe horizontally and gently stroking the blade.
  • Occasionally raising his right hand as if adjusting something mid-air.
  • Flickering with a glitch effect.

You can also change Herobrine's skin in the interaction interface, including custom skin options.

Outfits & Poses

Players can equip Herobrine with armor or Cosmetic Armor in the outfit page. The back slot requires Curios API.

Rich Interactions

Your relationship with Herobrine is built on trust. You can increase trust levels by trading rare materials, fighting alongside him, or completing commissions he issues. Each trust level unlocks new dialogues and rewards: from the initial Legendary Handbook to a Totem of Undying at level 10, permanent night vision ("Abyssal Gaze") at level 20, the "Soulbound Pact" (prevents item and XP loss on death) at level 50, and more, including the Companion Mode.

In Companion Mode, Herobrine follows you: he adapts between floating and walking based on terrain, teleports back to you when too far, and interacts with you in unique dialogues. If you die in combat, he will revive you and randomly teleport you to a safer location. Higher trust unlocks new functions: at level 50, he clears nearby weeds and trees (preserving the original terrain); at level 70, he flattens the surrounding terrain (while retaining the original block features). When you reach the "End Ring," you can unlock Peaceful Mode, making all monsters ignore you. However, if you attack any creature, the pact is broken, and you will face an onslaught of enraged monsters.

You can also invite him to interact: hold the "shelter of the creator" and Shift+Right-click on a bed, boat, minecart, or any modded seat. Herobrine will walk over and sit there indefinitely. Shift+Right-click the same item again to make him stand up.

##Intelligent Dialogue System

Herobrine can engage in meaningful conversations with players. If you configure cloud services (supporting DeepSeek and other APIs), he connects to a large language model for free-form conversations and remembers previous chat history. Players can achieve the following through verbal communication:

  • Companionship and Teleportation: Ask Herobrine to follow or teleport to you.
  • Location Search and Cross-Dimensional Teleportation: Request teleportation to other dimensions (e.g., the Nether). He can also precisely locate and provide coordinates for specific biomes and vanilla structures, as well as "unstable areas."
  • Item and Structure Generation: Request specific items or have him generate vanilla houses, large villages, or preset structures nearby, even placing command blocks.
  • Game Rule and Environment Control: Change time, weather, enable keepInventory, or adjust tick speed to instantly grow crops.
  • Player Mode Control: Herobrine can switch your game mode to Creative, Survival, or Spectator based on context.

Note: Cheats must be enabled for Herobrine to use commands to assist you. He will also proactively comment on your activities: mining, fighting, or when your health is low, he may initiate conversations.

AI Dialogue Setup: Open the interaction page, click "Dialogue Management," then the API settings in the top-left corner. Fill in the API key and endpoint URL according to your provider's requirements.

In multiplayer, players can chat with other players' bound Herobrines, and Herobrines can also talk to each other (supports auto-chat).

Awakened Monsters

In this world, vanilla monsters have a chance to transform into Awakened Monsters. These mobs have their own names, do not initially attack players, and will give gifts if you offer them specific items. If you attack them, they will fight back. Awakened Monsters can communicate and even fight each other, and they interact with Herobrine. Their dialogues can be influenced by AI settings.

World Anomalies & Exploration

While exploring the Overworld, you may encounter unstable areas—terrain replaced by Netherrack, Soul Soil, and other alien blocks, with ghostly creatures spawning there. These Ghost Zombies, Ghost Creepers, and Ghost Skeletons drop special items used for trading with Herobrine.

Using an "Eternal Key" (found in Ancient Cities, End Cities, and Stronghold Libraries) on End Bedrock will open a portal to the exclusive dimension, the "Ring of the End." This realm consists of three massive bedrock rings and is Herobrine's domain. Entering it for the first time triggers an achievement, and right-clicking Herobrine there triggers special dialogue and grants a "Boundary Journal."

Additionally, two special entities roam the world: Ghost Steve (0.5% spawn rate on the Overworld surface) drops "Source Code Fragments" when killed. N. , a glitched villager, sells Barrier Blocks for 64 Emeralds; upon closing the trade GUI, he triggers a creepy sound effect and drops a Legendary Fragment before disappearing.

Important Items

Poem of the End is Herobrine's signature war scythe, functioning as an axe, shovel, pickaxe, and hoe. It can switch between three forms by Shift+Right-clicking, and all its damage scales with your trust level:

  • Realm Breaker Form: Right-click to fire a lightning spear, dealing area-of-effect damage (configurable whether it destroys terrain).
  • Thunder Call Form: Right-click to summon several lightning strikes that automatically target hostile mobs.
  • Void Shatter Form: Extremely fast attack speed; attacks create void tears that deal continuous damage.

Other divine relics include: Soul Bound Pact (prevents item and experience loss upon death), Transcendence Permit (grants creative flight in survival mode), Abyssal Gaze (permanent night vision), Recall stone (teleports you to your last death location), Memory shard (placed in a jukebox to summon a Glitched Echo that guides you to rare structures containing an Eternal Key), and the shelter of the creator—the core item used to summon Herobrine. After signing it, right-click with it to summon him.

##Story Collection

The mod includes a complete narrative system. You can piece together Herobrine's origins via the Legendary Handbook (obtainable at Trust Level 2) and 11 Knowledge Fragments scattered across the world. Fragment acquisition methods vary: some are trust rewards, others are hidden in Stronghold Libraries, Abandoned Mineshafts, or dropped by vanilla or ghost mobs; they can also be found in village chests, End Cities, Ancient Cities, or even obtained by sleeping (triggering special events) or standing still for minutes. Merging Fragments with the Handbook not only reveals lore but also allows Herobrine to learn this knowledge, potentially changing his attitude toward you.
