About this Mod

Hooked is a mod designed to provide an effective replacement for creative flight. To achieve this, Hooked provides
grappling hooks which are faster, easier to use, and more fun than jetpacks or creative flight.
Simple
- Hooks have no firing arc, meaning you don't have to line up every shot
- Hooks pull you toward them with a constant force, no swinging to deal with
- Hooked doesn't require holding an item, instead it's a trinket/curio bound to a key for immediate access
Natural
- Simple controls mean hooks quickly become a natural extension of your moveset, as instinctive as the sneak key
- The lack of a firing arc means you don't have to line up every shot, making it all the more automatic
Useful
- Hooked provides options for everything from your first night in a world to frolicking in the nether without thought of the terrors it contains
- The controls are designed to reduce the mental barrier to use hooks, allowing them to be used whenever and wherever it might be helpful
- Hooks have no durability, so you can use them without feeling like every usage may be a waste
- While using a hook your mining speed is completely unimpaired, whether in the air or underwater
- Hooks are simulated almost entirely client-side, much like normal movement, meaning a laggy connection shouldn't cause too much trouble
- Creative flight is the answer for builders, so Hooked provides bounded creative flight using the Redstone Hook
Hook variants:
- Wood hook - not great, but better than nothing in the super early game
- Iron hook - pretty good and not too expensive with a cost totaling ten iron and two sticks
- Diamond hook - the best general-purpose hook in the mod, offering multiple hooks at a great middle of the road speed
- Ender hook - one of the two diamond hook sidegrades, it's very, very fast (perfect for clutches in the nether or with an Elytra)
- Redstone hook - the second diamond hook sidegrade, it offers full creative flight within the region bounded by the hooks
Datapack support
Hooked has datapack support for custom hook types, including all attributes, custom textures, and even custom hook models!
Full datapack docs can be found in the README
Yes these hooks are heavily inspired by Terraria's, in fact I first attempted this mod long ago as Terraria Hooks:

Hooked server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Hooked compatible with fabric and neoforge?
Hooked officially supports fabric, neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Hooked – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Hooked consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
