About this Mod
Horde Craft
Horde Craft adds a new kind of raid, a few new crops, several villager professions, and most importantly... Hordlings!
The hordlings of Horde Craft are based on the hungry red creatures from the 1994 DOS/3DO game called The Horde. While they want to eat your crops, your animals, your villagers, and you, they won't appear in your world until your first Horde raid. Unlike the original game, you have all the time in the world to prepare. After all, this is still Minecraft, and the disaster known as The Horde won't happen until you call it!
How should I play?
Horde Craft is designed for the survival player, and there is plenty for you to do!
To get the most out of Horde Craft, you will want to do the following:
- Find and build up a village
- Trade with villagers to collect emeralds
- Find a castle and trade with the bankers and the king
- Enchant your favorite sword with Grimthwacker (purchased from the king)
- Call the Horde at your village
- After three successful Horde raids, return to the castle shop
- Find or train a lumberjack villager and trade until a map is offered
- Complete a successful Horde raid in five different biomes
- Be sure to plant saplings
Which hordlings will I encounter?
There are three hordlings that you will encounter in every biome:
- Juvenile Hordling
- Piranha Hordling
- Juggernaut Hordling
If you played the original game, you will instantly recognize those three lovable hordlings! Be sure to give each one a hug!
Those three hordlings are the only hordlings that show up for a Plains Village raid, making it the easiest biome.
In all other biomes, you can expect to encounter a Shaman Hordling. He is grumpy, so maybe don't give him a hug.
Additionally, for these biomes you will also encounter:
- Forest biomes have forest hordlings. They will try to shoot you with arrows!
- Swamp biomes have swamp hordlings. They are slow on land, but they are fast swimmers!
- Desert biomes have desert hordlings. Stay off the sand during a Horde raid!
- Savanna biomes have savanna hordlings. Do you see the pattern yet?
- Snowy biomes have snowy hordlings. How much do you hate your snowy village?
How should I defend my villages?
Just like in the original game, you can leave Horde Meat around to distract the hordlings, giving you time to slaughter them!
Need a little extra help? Buy a soldier forge from the castle shop and train your own private army! Unlike the original game, whether you have a knight or an archer depends on how you equip them.
The Ring of Teleportation is also available at the castle shop after you have completed several raids. Want the Boots of Boogie? You may buy them (as an enchantment) from the Queen of the Tree Spirits - if you're worthy!
Is there an end boss?
Who said anything about an end boss? Was there an end boss in the original game?
