Huffle Sort
A mod with a (currently) very opinionated view on the order items should be sorted. Allows you to sort your inventory, hotbar, and storage - while not merging your stacks together.
About this Mod
If you're going to use a mod to help sort your items, then I believe that it needs to at least be able to sort them in the style that you would if you were taking the time to sort them manually. Sadly while there were some great inventory sorting mods out there, they all seemed to miss something that I needed.
For this reason, this mod is written initially with the goal to sort items in your hotbar, inventory, and storage chests in the manner that I would like them... ...although at this point of writing it doesn't even quite do that order yet.
Sorting
- You can rebind the key, but default is R.
- When a storage chest is open, it'll sort only storage.
- When your personal inventory is open, it'll sort your inventory & hotbar.
- Food and named items will go to the bottom right.
- Other items will go to the top left.
General Roadmap
1.0.x releases:
These will be focused on the mod getting to a state where the position of items after sort, would be where I would have placed them manually.
1.1.x releases:
This set of releases are planned to abstract the "sorting order" into something that can be configured by a user, and so at this point the mod will break away from just being for myself, and aimed at being something for people with a very specific taste in how they like items sorted. Regardless of how picky you might be, the end goal is for the mod to support your personal quirk - even if that is something as strange as "every prime numbered slot, can't have a craftable item in it!" ;)
1.2.x onwards:
I have some cool additional ideas of how I would like to expand the mod to deal with sorting - especially in handling items its never seen due to major Minecraft updates, or new items from another mod... but for now let's just focus on the first two.

Huffle Sort server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.19.3). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Huffle Sort compatible with fabric?
Huffle Sort officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.19.3. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Huffle Sort – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Huffle Sort consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
