About this Mod

What is it?

This mod is a light-weight identification mod that is designed for servers or even just LAN worlds.

What does it do?

This mod adds an item called an ID card that can be bound to yourself by right-clicking one and can be cleared by shift + right-clicking.
When right-clicked on an ID card reader, the reader will scan the ID card's bound owner against its trust list and produce a redstone signal if there is a match. The reader will always accept the person who placed it. You can trust other players by putting an ID card bound to them in the reader's trust list (accessible via right-clicking the top of the reader).

Notes

  • I am a solo developer and this is my first real mod, so I won't be releasing updates often or making very complex mechanisims and components.
  • I am also not great at art so some of the textures might not be great.
  • This project may never get updated, I was just looking for something to exercize my programming skills on

##TODO

  • Add fabric/quilt support (mostly there but on hold for now)
  • Add a box to change how long of a pulse is emmited when accepting an ID card

Frequently Asked Questions

ID Cards server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is ID Cards compatible with forge?

ID Cards officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with ID Cards – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if ID Cards consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
