About this Mod

This mod adds improved barrels with different tiers.

Upgrade your storage without tearing it down. Improved Barrels adds a clean tiered progression for barrels, from Copper all the way to Netherite, with in‑world upgrades.

This mod has no dependencies beyond Forge.

Servers: Install on both server and clients (new blocks/items). Existing worlds are safe; upgrading placed barrels is in‑place and lossless.

FAQ

Q: Do upgrades drop items or scramble slots?

A: No. When a barrel is upgraded, all items inside it stay untouched.

Q: Do I need Tinkers’ Construct?

A: No. The TCon support is optional. Everything works fine without it.

Q: Can I use this in a modpack?

A: Yes, modpacks are welcome. Please link back to this page.

Q: Client or server?

A: Both sides should have the mod installed!

How to Install Improved Barrels on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set forge Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.20.1).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Improved Barrels". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
