About this Mod
Insanity
Insanity is a horror-themed Forge mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 that introduces a complete sanity system, new enemies, unique artifacts, and a fresh layer of survival gameplay.
Your mind is no longer safe—darkness eats away at your sanity, and with it, reality itself begins to twist. As your sanity crumbles, strange sounds, terrifying apparitions, and deadly spirits emerge to haunt your every step.
Insanity adds depth, tension, and atmosphere to Minecraft through a sanity system and unique horror mechanics.
Keep the lights on, trust your senses, and remember: once your sanity is gone, you are never truly alone.
Sanity System
At the core of the mod lies the Sanity Meter, a mechanic that tracks your mental stability.
- Sanity decreases when you remain in dark places, underground, or other unsettling environments.
- Reaching higher insanity levels unlocks new effects, dangers, and atmosphere changes.
- Five distinct insanity stages exist, each progressively more disturbing.
Stage progression includes:
- Level 1–2: Mild unease, tension, and subtle warnings.
- Level 3: Whispers and disturbing sounds begin to echo around you.
- Level 4: Visual unease, strange phenomena, and stronger debuffs.
- Level 5: Full collapse of sanity, spawning Insanity Ghosts that stalk and attack with glowing, cursed eyes.
New Threats and Events
- Insanity Ghosts: Spectral, hostile entities that manifest when your sanity is at its lowest. They are fast, dangerous, and embody the final stage of madness.
- The Watcher: A mysterious presence that silently observes players who stray too far into madness. Its true purpose is unknown.
- Cursed Enchantment: A weapon enchantment that summons Insanity Ghosts on hit, letting players turn madness into a weapon.
Gear, Artifacts, and Items
- Insanity Armor: A full armor set imbued with madness, offering unique effects tied to the sanity system.
- Insanity Mirror: A rare artifact that reflects 50% of incoming damage back to attackers while simultaneously healing the wielder.
- Music Disc: "Whispers of the Forgotten": A haunting track that embodies the feeling of slipping into insanity.
- Custom Paintings: Disturbing art pieces that can be placed in the world, adding atmosphere and style to your builds.
Gameplay Experience
The Insanity mod is designed to be both atmospheric and challenging:
- Explore dark caves and shadowy ruins carefully, as they accelerate the loss of sanity.
- Manage your sanity level strategically—remaining sane keeps you safe, while embracing madness exposes you to powerful but dangerous encounters.
- Every choice matters: light your surroundings, prepare your equipment, and decide how far into insanity you are willing to descend.
This mod provides a blend of survival, horror, and RPG-like progression. It is ideal for players seeking a darker, more immersive Minecraft experience.
