Lightning Mod
Description:
The Lightning Mod enhances your Minecraft experience by increasing the frequency of lightning strikes during thunderstorms.
Features
- Configurable Lightning Frequency: Adjust the chance of lightning strikes during a thunderstorm. Make them incredibly frequent or extremely rare using a simple slider. The lower the value, the more often lightning will strike.
- Skeleton Horse Control: Modify the spawn chance of the "Skeleton Trap" horses that appear from lightning strikes. You can reduce the chance or disable them completely.
- All-Biome Lightning: Enable an option to allow lightning to strike in any biome during a thunderstorm, including deserts, savannas, and mesas. No more safe havens from the storm!
- In-Game Configuration: All settings can be easily changed in-game through the ModMenu settings screen, powered by Cloth Config.
- Compatibility with Fabric and Paper: Works seamlessly on both Fabric and Paper servers.
Installation
For Fabric
- Install Fabric Loader and Fabric API.
- Download and install YACL (for Minecraft versions 1.21.11 and below, use Cloth Config).
- Place the mod file in the
modsfolder in your Minecraft directory.
For Paper
- Download the latest version of Paper from the official website.
- Place the mod file in the
pluginsfolder in your Minecraft server directory. - Start the server to enable plugin.
Configuration
(for Fabric) The configuration file can be found in config/lightningmod.json or use Mod Menu.
(for Paper) plugins/LightningMod/config.yml.

How to Install LightningMod on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set bukkit Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the bukkit loader and matching Minecraft version (26.1.2).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "LightningMod". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

LightningMod server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong bukkit version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.1.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if LightningMod consumes the most tick time.
