About this Mod
Welcome to the Backrooms
If you're reading this, you probably know exactly what you're getting into. I wanted to create a Backrooms mod that actually feels right and not just a bunch of yellow blocks, but a place that feels endless, empty, and maybe slightly wrong.
Main Features
- Infinite Level 0: The classic Mono-Yellow. It generates infinitely, so you can wander for thousands of blocks seeing nothing but damp carpet and wallpaper. It’s lonely, which is exactly the point.
- The Atmosphere: I spent a lot of time trying to nail the vibe. The fluorescent lights buzz (sorry in advance), and the environment feels properly "liminal."
- Seamless Integration: It uses TerraBlender to handle the generation, so it should play nice with your other mods, even if the Backrooms themselves don't play nice with you.
Dependencies & Recommendations
- TerraBlender (REQUIRED): This mod relies on TerraBlender for the terrain generation. You must have it installed, or the game will not launch.
Highly Recommended for the Best Experience:
- Sound Physics Remastered: This is a game-changer. It adds reverberation and echoes that make the empty halls feel truly massive and isolating.
- True Darkness: Because when the lights go out in the Backrooms, it shouldn't just be dim—it should be pitch black.
- AmbientSounds 6: Adds those subtle background noises that make you feel like you're never quite alone.
- Embeddium: Recommended for performance, especially when generating infinite chunks.
⚠️ Beta Warning: Just a heads up—this is currently a BETA version. That means you might encounter some bugs or weirdness that isn't intended (even for the Backrooms). I'm still working on polishing everything, so please bear with me and report any issues you find!
How to Enter
I won't spoil it entirely, but let's just say you need to be careful where you step in the Overworld. Sometimes, reality just... breaks.
But if you really want to know, here is a little hint:
Try suffocating in a wall. It's not safe, but sometimes it's the only way out... or in.
Enjoy the solitude! (And let me know in the comments if you find anything weird.)
