About this Mod
Ever wanted more villager professions? Maybe tried asking a villager nicely to start selling something you wanted? With More Professions, you can get 'more professions' and unlock a whole new frontier in villager trading. Its vanilla styled enough to be used in all gamemodes, like Skyblock for example.
I made this because I could not find anything like it. Most custom villager data packs just spawned in random villagers with fixed trades in villages. But I didn't want that. I wanted to be able to level up and unlock more trades like an actual profession. I wanted randomly assigned trades. I wanted it to feel like it was just a vanilla profession.
I wanted to be able to enjoy the all-time-favorite activity of trade re-rolling by breaking their work block over and over to get that perfect trade. It just wasn't vanilla enough for me. And I'm a perfectionist, so that won't do. This actually brings more professions and not just another random spawning npc mod.
Introducing More Professions. Not much more to say on why, so let's talk about what and how.
The what
This mod brings over 350 new randomized trades across all added professions.
What professions have been added?
- Redstoner (Redstone Block)
- Lumber Jack (Wooden Axe)
- Miner (Wooden Pickaxe)
- Hunter (Wooden Sword)
- Beekeeper (Honeycomb)
- Explorer (Compass)

How does the trade randomizer work?
Exactly like vanilla Minecraft trading. At each trading level you get 2 trades from a random pool from that level. In More Professions, each level/pool has a maximum (currently) of 6 trades. And there are 5 levels/pools. Which means 30 base trades.
This means that in order to get certain items, you will have to level up your villager. Re-rolling only re-rolls the current levels pool of trades, and it can't be done after trading has begun; exactly how Minecraft does it.
But what about trades from the Lumber Jack? Will I only be able to trade in one wood type?
Not a chance. If the item in the trade has variants, there is a high chance its randomized. Even outside of the Lumber Jack, such as the Beekeeper's flower trade, or the Redstoner's button/pressure plates/sculk sensors. You will get fair variation.
The how
How do I 'encourage' a villager to become a custom profession? Very simply place a fletching table down with an item frame on top of it holding the item that determines the profession. For example, if you wanted a redstoner profession, you'd place a redstone block inside the item frame that's on top of the fletching table.
Like this:
You can re-roll the trades by breaking and replacing the item in the item frame. Convenient!
