About this Mod

Namer Scoreboards

Based on Chyzman's Namer mod, Namer Scoreboards adds the functionality I needed for my community scoreboard, for nicknames to be displayed on scoreboards, nametags and in chat.

It also allows for on-the-fly config changes.

Commands:

  • /namerscoreboards set and /namerscoreboards clear to set and clear your own nickname
  • /namerscoreboards setPlayerNick and /namerscoreboards clearPlayerNick to set and clear another player's nickname
  • /namerscoreboards allowSettingOwnNicknames <enabled|disabled> to enable/disable players setting their own nicknames (handy if your players are pests like mine)
  • /namerscoreboards maxNickLength <0-255> to set the maximum nickname length (0 = no limit). Note: this, annoyingly, includes formatting tags. I'll work on that for an update.
  • /namerscoreboards allowNickFormatting <enabled|disabled> to enable/disable formatting in nicknames (SFT/MiniMessage formatting seem to work)

Players' nicknames will appear on scoreboards, their nametags, in chat and on the player list, and can be used to reference them in commands.

Namer Scoreboards is licenced under the GNU General Public License, as per the original Namer mod.

Frequently Asked Questions

Namer Scoreboards server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Namer Scoreboards compatible with fabric?

Namer Scoreboards officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Namer Scoreboards – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Namer Scoreboards consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
