About this Mod
Nickname Changer is a client-side mod that lets you change your in-game username directly from the Minecraft title screen without restarting the game.
Features:
In-game UI: Adds a "Change Nick" button to the main menu.
Auto-saving: Remembers and applies your custom nickname automatically on startup.
Quick Reset: One-click button to restore your original account name at any time.
Validation: Enforces standard Minecraft name rules (A-Z, 0-9, _, max 16 chars).
Languages: Supports English and Russian.
Why use it?
This mod is specifically useful for LAN players who need unique names on the same network, content creators who want to hide their real username, and developers testing server plugins under different player names without needing multiple accounts.
Note: This modifies your local session name. It works perfectly in Singleplayer, LAN, and offline servers, but cannot be used to join premium (online-mode=true) servers.

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is NickChangerS compatible with forge?
NickChangerS officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with NickChangerS – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if NickChangerS consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
