Why did you make this mod?
I made this mod because I couldn't find any nickname changers avaliable for forge 1.12.2
Why is the command ~nick and not /nick?
I used the ~ because I did not want to interfere with any other nickname related mods(especially on servers)
Can other people see my custom username?
No, this is a client side mod, so only you will see the custom username in chat

How to Install NickMod on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set forge Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.12.2).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "NickMod". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.
