Warning
This is one of my older data packs and does not follow data pack conventions, nor is it very optimized. I do plan on updating/remaking this data pack. And i will get rid of this warning and edit the changelog when I do. Thank you for playing anyway!
This data pack overhauls Minecraft's oceans and adds a lot of new content. Some not completely related to the ocean. As soon as you join you will be given a guide book that will tell you most important information. Skip the the last pages for recipes,
A custom advancement tree has been added. Along with a couple secret advancements!
Fishing in many different biomes can lead to catching new and interesting fish. All unique to that biome usually. Some fish will give special effects once grilled, others act as normal food items. Those fish can also be seen as mobs in those same biomes, so deep diving can lead to some interesting finds!
You will also find anglers near beaches who will be willing to trade fish for more valuable items in the pack. Such as loot bags or an oceanic guide if you lose your first one.

How to Install Oceanic on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 4 GB RAM (6 GB recommended).
Set datapack Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the datapack loader and matching Minecraft version (1.20.1).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Oceanic". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Oceanic server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong datapack version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 4 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Oceanic compatible with datapack and fabric and forge and quilt?
Oceanic officially supports datapack, fabric, forge, quilt for Minecraft 1.20.1, 1.20, 1.19.4. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Oceanic – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 6 GB (per 5 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Oceanic consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
