OldFashionedLimits is a Minecraft data pack/mod which rollbacks Minecraft height limits back to pre-1.17 versions just like in old times.

📥 Installation:
⚠️ Warning!
This data pack/mod should not be installed in already created worlds!
If you want to install it, please create a new world.
🛠️ Install as data pack:
Please ensure that you have the following software installed:
- Minecraft (≥ 1.19.4)
To install the data pack to your Minecraft world, you should:
- Open the world creation screen.
- Go to "Data packs" menu.
- Drag and drop this data pack to the game window.
- Accept/ignore the experimental content warning.
- Create a new world.

💡 Features:
- Old build limit. The maximum build height limit is now 256 blocks up,
just like in old times! - No negative height. The data pack removes negative height from
your world.

How to Install OldFashionedLimits on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 4 GB RAM (6 GB recommended).
Set datapack Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the datapack loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21.5).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "OldFashionedLimits". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

OldFashionedLimits server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong datapack version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 4 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.5). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is OldFashionedLimits compatible with datapack and fabric and forge and neoforge and quilt?
OldFashionedLimits officially supports datapack, fabric, forge, neoforge, quilt for Minecraft 1.21.5, 1.21.4, 1.21.3. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with OldFashionedLimits – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 6 GB (per 5 players). Use /spark profiler to check if OldFashionedLimits consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
