About this Mod
Subterranea is an origins addon I made for a server event in 2025. Though it ended up going unused, perhaps someone else will enjoy the cave-dwelling playstyle these origins encourage.
Origins:
Batkin
Batkin are agile climbers who rely on echolocation to 'see'
Molekin
Molekin are quick miners who see well in dark caves but not in the sun's light
Axolotlkin
Axolotlkin are aquatic cave dwellers that require humidity to survive.
Other stuff:
Subterranea is unlikely to be consistently updated. It may recieve 1-3 more origins at random points when I get a burst of motivation to do something with it. Don't hold out too much hope.
this may be brought to a more recent version once 1.20.1 stops being the best one for mods

How to Install Origins: Subterranea on Your Server
Order Server
Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).
Set fabric Loader
In the panel under "Egg", select the fabric loader and matching Minecraft version (1.20.1).
Install Mod
Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Origins: Subterranea". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Origins: Subterranea server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Origins: Subterranea compatible with fabric and forge?
Origins: Subterranea officially supports fabric, forge for Minecraft 1.20.1, 1.20. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Origins: Subterranea – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Origins: Subterranea consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
