About this Mod

Ping is a client-side Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.21.8 that lets you create temporary waypoint beacons and share them through chat with other players using the mod.

Look at a block or entity, press your configured ping key, and Ping sends a compact chat payload containing the location. Any player with the mod installed can detect that message in chat and render the waypoint in their world if they are in the same dimension.

Features

  • Create waypoint pings from what you are looking at
  • Share pings through normal chat or team chat
  • Render tall, visible beacon-style markers at the pinged location
  • Show distance labels on screen
  • Configure ping color, duration, and command format
  • Mod Menu config screen support
  • Client-side only

Notes

  • This mod does not require server installation
  • Other players need the mod to see the waypoint markers
  • The chat message must preserve the embedded ping payload for detection to work

Frequently Asked Questions

Ping server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Ping compatible with fabric?

Ping officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.11, 1.21.8. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Ping – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Ping consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
