About this Mod

PlayerVOX is a Minecraft Forge mod that gives players a voice. Using data-pack-style JSON files and OGG audio, voice pack authors can define exactly when a character speaks — on taking damage, scoring a kill, dying, gaining an advancement, and more.

Each player independently selects their own voice pack in-game. Voices play spatially so nearby players can hear them.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.20.1
  • Forge 47.2.0 or later
  • TACZ (optional) — enables gun-related voice triggers

Installing Voice Packs

  1. Create a vox_packs/ folder in your Minecraft instance root (same level as mods/).
  2. Place voice pack folders or .zip files inside it.
  3. Reload or restart the game.

Voice packs are loaded automatically on server startup and when data packs reload (/reload).

Selecting a Voice Pack

Press V (default keybind, rebindable) to open the voice pack selection screen.
Click a pack to select it. Your selection is saved server-side and persists across sessions.

Choose "No voice pack" to disable voices for yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Player VOX server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Player VOX compatible with forge?

Player VOX officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Player VOX – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Player VOX consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
