About this Mod

Points At is a multiplayer-focused utility and somewhat comedic mod to make giving directions to nearby players easier. Rather than simply gesturing the player in animation, it throws a large and much harder to miss arrow to your crosshair target, while announcing said target in chat to players in your line of sight. It's styled after SS13/Space Station 13, up to even including compressing repeats in chat.

The default hotkey is [H], and can be changed any time.

You can change the color of arrows you send by simply going into your client configuration and changing the hex code in the lifetime setting. It will update and sync in real-time for everybody on the server!

Available for 1.20.1 Forge/Neoforge, and 1.21.1 Neoforge.

Free to use in any modpack or server that does not have a content paywall.

How to Install Points At on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set forge Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the forge loader and matching Minecraft version (1.21.1).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Points At". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Points At server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Points At compatible with forge and neoforge?

Server lagging with Points At – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Points At consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
