About this Mod

This is an remake of the mod https://modrinth.com/mod/potions-and-such
I remade this mod from the ground up for Forge 1.20.1 without copying any of the original code. The purpose of this remake is to avoid using a connector in all my modpacks just for one mod.

Features similar to the original mod:

Potions now form stacks of 3

Potions stacking

The Fletching Table now works, and it allows you to make dipped arrows, explosive arrows and spectral arrows (and combinations of those three). (the GUI design is from the original mod)

Fletching table

4 potion effects:

  • Recall: Teleports you to your spawnpoint when the effect runs out
  • Heartache: Halts natural regeneration
  • Attraction: Nearby entities are pulled towards the entity with the effect
  • Repulsion: Nearby entities are pushed away from the entity with the effect

New, original features:
5 other potion effects:

  • Entropy (this one is different from the original mod): increases xp gain / increases xp dropped by any entity with the effect. Brewed with echo shards.
  • Transmutation: morphs most mobs into harmless creatures. Brewed with Command blocks.
  • Wither: same effect as the vanilla "Wither". Brewed with Wither roses.
  • Vampirism: recover health when you attack. Brewed with suspicious stew.
  • Thorns: damages the attacker. Brewed with cacti.

New mob: Dabbler
It spawns in caves (under y32), is quite rare and sometimes throws helpful lingering potions at players. Gets angry if hit, and can drop a "Potion bundle" if you kill it. You can also barter with it using nether wart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Potions and Stuff server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Potions and Stuff compatible with forge?

Potions and Stuff officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Potions and Stuff – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Potions and Stuff consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
