About this Mod
Reel Fishing
Reel Fishing is an in-development server-side Fabric mod that adds a fishing minigame, modular fishing rods, new fish, terrible puns and more.
To start your fishing journey you must first craft yourself a Fishing Rod Bench from there you can assemble a Modular Fishing Rod with a rod, a reel and a hook.
Rods
Any wood type can be used to create a rod, and every type of wood will behave differently.
Rods have two main properties their Stability and their Obstruction Pattern.
Stability affects how well you're able to hold on to the rod. A less stable rod will result in the Minigame being faster and more difficult to catch.
Obstruction Patterns are an area of the Minigame that the rod obstructs. More stable rods will likely have a bigger obstruction pattern, a price you pay for that added stability.
Reels
Reels can be made from wood, bamboo and copper. Better reels require Bonework Mechanisms to be made.
Reels slow down the fish's escape, the stronger the reel the slower the fish will escape.
Hooks
Hooks can be made from iron or fish bones.
Hooks have a Power and a Fish Category. An Iron Hook for example is moderately powerful and is best at catching Shallow fish. Hooks are only half as powerful when used for fish outside of their category.
Certain fish categories of fish can only be caught with certain hooks.
For example, Deep fish can only be caught with a Weighted Hook.
Other Features
- Over 16 new fish to catch, 17 fish if we're being exact. Technically there is 21 but 4 cannot be caught currently.
- Biome-based fishing, different biomes have different fish. Explore and see what you fish up!
- Fish Bones, eating cooked fish will occasionally yield Fish Bones which can be used to upgrade your fishing equipment.
