About this Mod

Reins Mod

Requirements: Valkyrien Skies 2(preferably version 2.4.9 or later)
Highly Recommended add-ons: Trackwork, Create: Copycats+

Reins and Whip are accessible in the Creative Menu Tools&Utilities Tab.
OR
By crafting:
Reins - Any configuration of 1 lead, 1 string, and 1 iron ingot.
Whip - Any configuration of 1 lead, and 3 string.

To use the mod:

  1. Use the reins on an animal to enable the ability to control them. You can right-click while crouching to remove the reins.
  2. From there, place fence blocks on your desired Valkyrien Skies 2 Ship.
  3. Use a lead on the reined animal(s) and attach them to the fence block(s) on the ship.
  4. When the whip is equipped by the player and the horses are attached to a Valkyrien Skies 2 ship, the player will freeze its movement, and will instead control the animals which have reins on them.
  5. You will then be able to drive your Valkyrien Skies 2 ship with the animals.

Automatic Travel Mode:

  • To enable automatic travel mode, begin driving the ship and right click the whip in the direction you want to travel. The horses will automatically walk or sprint in whatever direction you set, allowing you to do other things while the animals take care of the navigation.
  • To disable automatic travel mode, you have two options.
  1. Right click the whip again if you're still holding it.
  2. Unequip then re-equip the whip.

NOTES:

  • This mod has been extensively tested in singleplayer and is considered stable for normal gameplay.
  • Server use has been tested and should work as well.
  • If leads visually or physically desync after reloading a world, simply detach and reattach the lead to the ship fence.
  • If redstone links stop working on other ships, set
    redstone_link_wildcard = false
    in create-connected-common.toml.

Frequently Asked Questions

ReinsMod server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is ReinsMod compatible with forge?

ReinsMod officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with ReinsMod – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if ReinsMod consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
