Roost 2: Flying Higher
Adds new ancient bird mount, to ride around your world
About this Mod
Roost 2: Flying Higher
This is a continuation and overhaul of the original Roost mod, It fixes major bugs, optimizes the mod, changes a bunch of things, while keeping the familiar vibe. It replaces some features with newer ones and will be the primary version going forward.
This mod needs Geckolib and Curios API.
As of update 0.8.0b, Roosts can have skins! For anyone wishing to submit skins for the roost, please do so at Discord: typerat, you may also messange me to request the texture files, to request a feature, or to report a bug.
This version of the mod is still in beta, please report any bugs or issues in the comments.
Roost
The roost is the primary feature of this mod. It is a large, ancient bird, from the same time period as the Sniffer. It was brought back to life using magic by the Illagers, who use it to invade and conquer. Roosts are trusting and docile by nature, having no natural predators. You can just approach them and they will let you ride them, if they have a saddle equipped.

The roost is a fast mount, traveling and gliding across the world with its (brand new) wings! You can jump to take flight and explore the world. You can also upgrade your roost using shards, but more on that later.
Roost Rider
You are not the only one that can ride these mighty birds. As mentioned before, Illagers were the first to discover the roost. The roost riders are an elite force of pillager, they are trained in riding the roost and using the deadly plated scythe. They can deal heavy damage, and are often on the front lines in most raids.

The roost riders also have outposts in the savanna, where they train and patrol the world. You can find yourself your own roost there, but you might have to fight a certain someone to set it free.
Blocks and Items
There are many different items with different uses in this mod, I won't spoil them all, but here are some highlights!

Marl
A decorative stone type found in opal geodes, it can be made into many different types of blocks!

Opal
The primary gemstone of the mod, it is used in almost all magical crafting in the mod. It spawns in geodes underground much like amethyst. It can be made into plenty decorative blocks, including a glass that's just as blast resistant as obsidian!

Shards of power
These are the shards of power, using them you can upgrade your roost. While a roost is holding onto a shard it will be imbued with power, and its stats will adjust. There is a shard to boost one of each of the roosts core abilities: running, jumping, and gliding. There is also the trinity shard, a powerful end game item, that imbues your roost with the power of all three of the lesser shards.

Featherfall Charm
This charm serves one very useful purpose, while equipped it completely negates all fall damage.

Voidfall Charm
This charm, while no longer preventing fall damage, it will save you from the void.

Heating Lantern
This warm lantern makes many bird like creatures lay eggs, the warmth calming them down. It is the only way to induce egg laying in Roosts.

Roost Egg
This is the egg of the mighty bird, it can be found in roost rider outposts, or layed by roosts.

Roost Meat
Roost meat comes in many different shapes, from drumsticks to wings to breasts. Each provides a different amount of hunger and can be eaten at different speeds.
Alternatively, you can also make yourself an even more filling food

KFR Bucket
This mighty delicious meal is big enough for the whole family, it provides a massive amount of saturation and hunger.

Saddle Pouch
Lastly the saddle pouch, it is a rare find in the roost rider outpost, attaching it to your roosts saddle will grant you a few extra inventory slots on your roost.
