About this Mod

Intro

You might be asking yourselves? What is a Roost? Well usually roost is the name of a place where birds lay to rest for the night. And in a lot of ways this mod is similar.

So far it introduces 1 new bird into the game! This mod page will function as the semi-wiki as well as introduction to the mod and what you can expect.

  • Roost evolution / Breeding [On break] (15%)

The Roost

The roost itself is a fast flightless bird, you can tame the Roost using grubs, since these are its favourite food. The Roost used to roam the overworld long ago, but now they are mostly extinct. Illagers have figured out a way to hatch them. You will find roosts in Roost rider outposts, where one is always held captive, and you even have a chance of finding an egg here. If you choose to tame the roost it will follow you around, unless if you command it to sit, to do so simply right click it while sneaking.
Roost Sitting

They are very fast and never seem to run out of stamina. In addition to this they can glide through the air for about 10 seconds before falling to the ground, lucky for you they are immune to fall damage!

Roost Riders

As mentioned before the roosts were first discovered by the Illagers. Some Illagers decided to learn to ride the roosts and were successful, now these new dangerous Illagers join their brothers in arms in raids. They are quick and have a pretty far reach so be careful. They have also learned to use a new type of weapon, a glaive, and if you are lucky, you can get your hands on one, its a pretty strong weapon with a slow attack speed.
Roost rider

Roost riders can also be found at roost rider outposts, these are your only way to find a tameable Roost.

Items and their uses

Here is a list of items and their uses:

Grub

Grubs are the favourite food of roosts, they can be found when flipping over flat stones that spawn in the overworld. They are also used in the making of Grub salad, which has some unique uses.

Grub Salad

Grub salad is a type of animal feed, it has one very useful effect, and that is that it induces hatching in bird and birdlike animals, this can be useful for getting Roost eggs, but it also works on Sniffers and Chickens.

Roost Egg

This is a roost egg, it can rarely be found in Rider outposts or if you feed a roost a grub salad it will drop one. They can be placed down and after 20 minutes they will hatch a baby roost.
Featherlite Charm

This is one of the more useful items added by the mod, its called a Featherlite charm, when held in your hand it prevents lethal fall damage with a 30 second cooldown.

Stark Featherlite charm

This is another very useful item, the Voidlite charm, it is very useful in the end, as when it is held in your offhand, it will save you from the void once, it works by teleporting you to the last solid block you were standing on (leaves don't count), as of 1.1.0 it is crafted using opals not diamonds.

Update 1.1.0

This update introduces a few new blocks and items, as well as giving new features to old items.

Command Whistle

The command whistle has been given a new use, it can now recall roosts to nest blocks bound to it! Ever wanted to send your roost home from a long distance away? Now you can!

Roost nest

The roost nest is a very unique block, it requires a 3x3 area on to be clear of any blocks, i mean you don't want your roost to suffocate when it recalls do you?

Opal

Opal is a new gemstone found deep underground, its used in most roost based crafting recipes.

Opaline Glass

Opaline glass is a new type of glass crafted with opals, its very durable and has blast resistance equal to that of obsidian! However it still shatters without silk touch.

Grub Farm

If you ever lack grubs here is your solution! Using some mud, planks and opal you can craft yourself a grub farm! It produces 3-4 grub every 5 minutes.

Roost treats

Roost treats are very useful, the basic one can provide some nice healing, but the special Speedy, Airy and Hearty roost treats can be used to increase you roosts Speed, Glide duration and Health. They aren't cheap to make though.

Roost mirror

And lastly the roost mirror, its main use is to see your roosts current stats.

Other info

The mod will be updated when necessary, please leave any bugs you find as a comment, I will work to fix them as soon as possible.

As far as future content goes, I'll see if I get any new ideas, though I am open to suggestions.

As of update 1.1.0 it also has partial create compatibility, with some new recipes for certain items.

Lastly this mod requires Geckolib. It is compatible with better combat and using a datapack it is also compatible with epic fight!
