About this Mod

Allow unauthenticated players, such as custom bots, to join the game without authenticating through Microsoft. Use the /allowplayer <player> command to allow a player with that username to join in the next 60 seconds, even if they aren't logged in to a valid Microsoft account. This allows players you want on your server to join but prevents random griefers/etc. from joining.

Note: Should work with new-ish versions as it doesn't change much code but I've only tested it on 1.20.1, 1.20.4, and 1.21.4

FAQ:

  • Q: Will this support forge?
    • A: It doesn't right now and I have no plans to add support at the moment.
  • Q: Can you backport it to older versions than 1.20?
    • A: Probably not, but you could try just using a fabric_loader_dependency.json file to override it (be warned that this probably won't work)
  • Q: Are these questions actually asked frequently?
    • A: I don't know, but they seem like good things to answer
  • Q: Are you just trying to fill up space on the mod page now?
    • A: Yeah because it looks better this way

Frequently Asked Questions

Selective Offline Mode server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.5). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Selective Offline Mode compatible with fabric?

Selective Offline Mode officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.5, 1.21.4, 1.21.3. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Selective Offline Mode – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Selective Offline Mode consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
