About this Mod

When an item is within a block of powder snow for long enough, it will sfreeze the stack of items into an uncooked form. Depending on the amount of items in the stack, the powder snow has a chance of disappearing after sfreezing the stack. A stack of 64 items will always cause the powder snow to disappear.

Additionally, powder snow has been made more easily obtainable. If a snow golem is damaged within a cauldron, it has a chance of shedding some snow into the cauldron, increasing the level of powder snow.

What is sfreezing?

To sfreeze something is to unsmelt it; its name is derived by taking "smelt", and replacing the contained "melt" (to which "smelt" is etymologically related) with "freeze". Thence we get "sfreeze".

How do I add my own sfreezing recipes?

Sfreezing is implemented by creating a new recipe type, so you can add your own sfreezing recipes the way you would a normal recipe, with the JSON format of

{
    "type": "sfreeze:sfreezing",

    "ingredient": {
        "item": "namespace:item"
    },

    "result": "namespace:item"
}

This is similar to how vanilla cooking recipes are defined.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sfreeze server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Sfreeze compatible with fabric?

Sfreeze officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.20.2, 1.19.4, 1.19.3. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Sfreeze – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Sfreeze consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
