About this Mod
State Machine Mod
With this mod you can build a deterministic finite-state machine in Minecraft.
The set of items (NOT ITEM STACKS) in your game is your alphabet. States are placed blocks.
If a state is the current one of some state machine it will emit redstone signal.
Operations
- Create Transition: Hold an item in the offhand and any wrench (state machine tool) in the main hand, then right‑click two state blocks. The first clicked block is the source state, the second is the target state.
- Create Default Transition: Same as creating a transition, but with an empty offhand.
- Remove Transition: Hold an item in the offhand and use any wrench (state machine tool) to right‑click a state block whose transition you want to remove. If the offhand is empty, the default transition is removed.
- Set State Machine Block State: Right‑click a state machine block with any wrench (state machine tool), then right‑click the target state.

State Machine server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.8). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is State Machine compatible with fabric?
State Machine officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.8, 1.21.1, 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with State Machine – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if State Machine consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
