About this Mod

Two ships composed of various crates and bales, one floating in the air with a balloon made of lanterns.Various cubes of strange rocks floating in the end, and a polished block of obsidian also floating due to two end lamps

Stoat is a datapack for Sable with new physics properties for modded and vanilla blocks!
Some notable ones being Sky Lanterns from The Block Box floating away and Architect's Palette Abyssaline acting as a ballast!

Requires Sable to work, Create Simulated and the mods this tags features from in the list below are optional, but recommended.

Supported Mods

(And possibly more we've forgotten)

And here's some of the things this datapack DOES with the above mods

Additions & Changes
  • (BB and Supp) Sky lanterns and bubbles will float away! They can't carry much individually though.
  • (AP) Abyssaline and Hadaline act as a ballast based on their charge, decreasing and increasing their mass respectively
  • (MC and AP) Glowstone now levitates!.. Not very well at least. Smooth glowstone from Architect' Palette is airtight at least!
  • (Misc) Purpur/Chorus blocks and their derivatives have both reduced gravity and are lighter! End rods and blocks crafted with them have decent levitation too. However, do be warned, they WILL float off irregardless of air pressure or gravity.
  • (Supp and NML) Spikes have a LOT of friction. Additionally, the ones from No Man's Land lose this when they retract.
  • (CD and MC) Coin piles will weigh more the more you stack them, snow layers will also do so albiet lighter. Good for precise weighting!
  • (Enderscape and Ap) Nebulite and Nebulite is more receptive to inertia.
  • (Enderscape) Drift jelly is now extremely light and bouncy!
  • (AP) Moonshale has moon gravity! Craterstone less so.
  • (Misc) Mushroom blocks, froglights, kelp, and a few more various blocks are a bit rubbery, being slightly bouncy and with more friction.
  • (Misc) Cobble, blackstone, and paths have more traction.
  • (MC) Reinforced Deepslate and Netherite are now uber heavy, albeit not as heavy as bedrock.
  • (Misc) Plants similar to cactus or bamboo have been made light and fragile. Additionally, resin and dirty glass are fragile.
  • (Misc) Various storage blocks are now light instead of super heavy.

[New in 1.1]

  • (Misc) Ender Pearl and Experience related blocks (and Shadowline from Enderscape) all are hyperbouyant, weighing the same amount but somehow float violently in fluids. This does include experience stored in Carved Nephrite from Spelunkery.
  • (Malum) Spirit Motes placed by the Lamplighter's Tongs float in the air, although they cannot carry much of anything.

You may include and modify this datapack for use in modpacks and videos as long as you link back to either the modrinth or github page, and use a compatible license for your modifications. Additionally, if any of the authors of Sable or the mods tagged want to incorporate the tags or custom physics properties into their own mods, they are free to do so. You may use this as a reference and inspiration for your own datapacks. If you'd like to suggest support for certain mods, please bring it up in the issues, or if you know how to implement said support yourself, please make a pull request or your own datapack/mod! (Weasel would be a GREAT name for one.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Stoat server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong datapack version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Stoat compatible with datapack and neoforge?

Stoat officially supports datapack, neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.1, 1.21. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Stoat – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Stoat consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
