About this Mod

Survival Plus

a Minecraft gameplay mod meant to rework and expand the classic survival gamemode.

Base Assaults:

Similar to Raids, this new system spawns a wave of hostile mobs during the night with the goal of causing destruction to your base. Each wave needs at least 5 in-game days to spawn and the waves get progressively stronger, so if you want to survive, your base might require some serious defenses, especially with the new mobs included in this mod. WARNING: Base Assaults start when you are close to a bed set as your spawn point, so better don't sleep in beds that aren't well protected! (Base Assaults can be turned off with a gamerule.)

Sleep Rework:

Beds no longer are as useful at skipping the night as they're used to. You can now sleep whenever you like, but you can only skip 7 in-game hours through sleeping. Each successful sleep sets you on a four-hour sleep cooldown. Having a bed is no longer sufficient to survive an entire night.

New Hostile Mobs:

New mobs, smarter, stronger and more destructive than ever before!

The Reeper: Similar to the creeper, but with some changes. They are slower, take longer to ignite and once they ignite, they won't stop, so kill them before they even get the chance. They also explode if you were close to them and they can no longer find you, or if they find a closed door in their path. But they are also a bit more careful: they don't explode if to many other hostile mobs are next to them.

The Builder Zombie: A Zombie but with the ability to build! Wearing a yellow high-vis jacket, with a dirt block in their hand, and custom pathfinding, they have the ability to build themselves up, build bridges, and save themselves from falling.

The Destroyer Zombies: Blocks mineable with their tool can be destroyed by them. And with custom pathfinding and their ability to locate you without visibility, they have the means to dig themselves towards you.

The Scorched Skeleton: Equipped with a bow with a new enchantment, Flame II, the arrows they shoot not only can set their target on fire, it also sets the block they're on, on fire. Put the fire down before it spreads or avoid these skeletons by looking out for their distinctive glowing burns.

The Leaping Spider: A green spider with glowing yellow eyes that not only pounces but leaps at you, which gives them additional damage and knockback based on their speed if they hit you.

Mob Spawn Progression:

While these new mobs seem a lot more dangerous, they don't appear immediately in new worlds. The new mobs progressively appear in your world, with the easier ones appearing earlier than the harder ones. Additionally, during the first night, hostile mobs spawn on the surface at a reduced rate, giving you more time to prepare for what might come later. (Mob Spawn Progression can be turned off with a gamerule.)

New Enchantments:

Rapid Swing: Enchantment for Swords, removes any attack cooldown but also the sweeping attack, making them act similar to how swords worked before 1.9.

Flame II: Enchantment for Bows, also used by Scorched Skeletons, not only sets the entity hit on fire, it also sets the block they're on on fire.

Other changes:

  • Phantoms now spawn if you have no spawn point set for a while, instead of not having slept for a while.
  • Respawn anchors now work in all dimensions and are considered temporary respawn points, meaning if your anchor gets destroyed or runs out, you will spawn at your set bed if you die.
  • If you die and can't spawn at a spawn point, the items in your inventory will be lost. (Can be turned off with a gamerule.)
  • Sleeping no longer guarantees the weather gets cleared.
  • Chainmail armor is now craftable with a mix of iron nuggets and iron bars.
  • Added loot tables for frogs, goats and sniffers.

This mod should be compatible with most mods, as long they don't change similar gameplay aspects as this mod. This mod is also designed to be added or removed from the game without causing any issues to existing worlds, so world corruption shouldn't happen with this mod.

Server lagging with Survival Plus – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Survival Plus consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
