About this Mod
Ever wondered what foods were in that large mod pack you're playing? Ever wished there was some easy way to find all foods from all your installed mods?
TagFoods attempts to add a foods tag to all food items it detects in your game. This allows you to use tools such as JEI to search for any food item.
Dependencies:
- Kotlin For Forge
I also recommend you install something that lets you search by tags, such as JEI, otherwise this mod is fairly useless. The mod must be present on both the server and client for the tag to show correctly.
Known Issues:
- Some foods that are not edible from the inventory, such as cakes, are not tagged correctly.
- Some mods may add tags that start with foods such as "foodstuffs". These may show up in a search for foods even if they are not edible, depending on your search settings. Do not report this as an issue.

TagFoods server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong forge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is TagFoods compatible with forge?
TagFoods officially supports forge for Minecraft 1.20.1, 1.18.2, 1.18. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with TagFoods – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if TagFoods consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
