About this Mod

Texture Swapper (TSR) is a mod that automatically switches your resource pack whenever you join a world, server, server instance or lobby.

Originally created for Hypixel SkyBlock upon the suggestion of a friend, TSR works in any environment where frequent instance switching occurs. It adds variety to your gameplay by rotating through your favourite resource packs, without you needing to manually change them.

Features

  • Automatically swaps resource packs on instance/lobby change
  • Works even with small hops (e.g. SkyBlock servers, minigames)
  • Smart randomization that reduces repeating the last used pack
  • Dedicated resource pack folder (no interference with your main packs)
  • Simple in-game setup with commands and a basic GUI
  • Lightweight and focused functionality

Commands

/tsr or /textureswapper

  • create — Create a new texture swap profile (opens folder for adding packs)
  • edit — Modify your selected resource packs via a simple GUI
  • reload — Reload the current configuration

How it works

TSR uses its own resource pack directory to avoid conflicts with your main Minecraft setup.
Whenever a new instance is detected, the mod reloads resources and selects a pack from your configured list using a randomness system that avoids picking the same pack repeatedly.

Requirements

Notes

  • TSR only supports resource packs (no shader support)
  • The mod triggers a resource reload on each instance change, which may briefly show the loading screen
  • For a smoother experience, using a mod like Remove Reloading Screen is recommended

Why use TSR?

If you enjoy using multiple resource packs but don’t want to constantly switch between them, TSR automates the process and keeps your visuals feeling fresh — especially in games with frequent lobby or instance changes.

This is a niche mod by design, but for the right use case, it adds a unique and dynamic twist to your Minecraft experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

TextureSwapper server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.10). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is TextureSwapper compatible with fabric?

TextureSwapper officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.10. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with TextureSwapper – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if TextureSwapper consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
