The Colormancer
A Mistborn inspired Origin
About this Mod
The Colormancer
The Colormancer is a Mistborn inspired Origin.
I tried to adapt the essence of being a mistborn to the Vanilla Minecraft feel and vibes by using Colors instead of Metals and taking advantage of their meaning to give the powers a uniqueness that differentiates my take from its inspiration.
Powers
By only using primary colors the Origins keeps a non overwhelming simplicity and a really low skill floor while having a really cool skill cieling that tells apart who really is a good colormancer.
There might be downsides to a power that can be mitigated through other power or external agents.
Cyan
Cyan, the color of tranquillity is to a Colormancer what Tin is to a Mistborn and helps you achieve this state by improving every sense a human has:
- Sight: Your sight improves in darkness but light blinds you.
- Hearing: You can "hear" nearby mobs with precision.
- Taste: Food tastes better so it replenishes more exhaustion.
- Smell: TBA.
- Touch: Cold and heat are much more difficult to bear
Magenta
Magenta is a color that has the passion from red and the calm of violet so it gives you a very versatile power that lets you push and pull from blocks and entities but does nothing for you besides that so you are totally responsable for every move you do, and every error you commit.
Yellow
By being the color of energy, Yellow lets your soul leave your body behind and explore the world without any material anchor.
Black
By absorbing every light beam, the color Black strengthens your body making you faster, stronger and tougher. But don't let this feeling fool you: your body remains the same, so you will pay for surpassing its limits.
Other mechanics
I'd love to implement a custom brewing system and an investigation system to the Origin but those are plans for the future.
Investigation
The investigation that I currently implemented is done through the Vademecum Cromaticus, an in-game guide written on a vanilla book. You get this book when you choose this origin or by right-clicking a lectern with a book and quill.
Brewing
There are plans to add a brewing mechanic to the mod, but currently there's nothing to talk about here.
Future of the mod
I plan on move apart from dependencies before trying my own take on Feruchemy or Hemalurgy.
