About this Mod

Comparison of outer Skin layer on/off

Toggle the visibility of the outer layer of your Skin with the press of a button.

Works for Capes and the Mainhand too!

(Mainhand switches from Right to Left vice versa)

This Mod works on Servers too, but spamming the buttons for changing for an extended period of time can result in sending a lot of packets. Use at your own risk!

Does it not work like you want it to?

The game crashes:

Do you have all dependencies installed? (Fabric API)
Did you download the correct mod version for your game version?

No text appears, when you press the button:

Did you set the correct Keybinds?

Your Skin does not change much:

Only the outer Skin layer is being toggled. If your Skin does not have an outer layer or only a few elements on the outer layer, nothing or almost nothing will be changed.

In the example picture the outer layer of the skin consists of clothing, while the hidden inner layer consists of skin. If you want a similar effect, you have to create your skin with this in mind.

https://modrinth.com/mod/3dskinlayers was used in the example Picture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Toggle Skin server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Toggle Skin compatible with fabric?

Toggle Skin officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Toggle Skin – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Toggle Skin consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
