About this Mod
Tool Progression⚒️
Tool Progression is a light overhaul to the early game of Minecraft, removing the ability to obtain wood and stone tools in survival as well as the ability to mine logs with your hands. Instead, you start with Flint tools (replacing wood tools).
The Basics🦴
Simple to obtain: Get Sticks from leaves and Flint from gravel.
Flint Pickaxe: Does everything wood tools can, but it is also required to mine Copper.
Copper Pickaxe: Acts as the bridge to the next tier, allowing you to mine Iron.
The progression now flows like this: Flint > Copper > Iron > Diamond > Netherite
Current Status🧪
Tool Progression is currently in Beta. There may be issues since this is my first mod. Also, expect limited mod compatibility. You can report issues or recommend improvements in the Discord! 💬
I have plans on expanding on this systerm and other survival overhauls at some point, you can keep up with this project and others in the discord aswell.

Tool Progression server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Tool Progression compatible with fabric?
Tool Progression officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Tool Progression – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Tool Progression consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
