Ubi Sumus? / Random Spawn
This mod allows you to randomly spawn in the world after death
About this Mod
Ubi Sumus?
This mod introduces a dynamic and customizable spawning system designed to make every new world more challenging and unpredictable while still giving the player control over the experience. Upon a player’s very first login or after any death without a bed the mod randomizes the spawn point within a vast 20000 x 20000 area centered around the world’s origin. This mechanic creates a sort of “soft hardcore” experience: if a player dies without setting a bed, returning to the base becomes a real challenge.
This added uncertainty enhances the difficulty right from the start, preventing predictable respawn points and encouraging the player to adapt quickly to unfamiliar surroundings without gears. It’s a great way to refresh the early game experience or for anyone seeking a new layer of challenge.
All parameters related to the spawn area are fully configurable. In the configuration file you can adjust the size of the spawning rectangle area by modifying the X and Y ranges. This allows the spawn zone to be reduced for a more controlled start or expanded at will for players who want maximum randomness.
Additionally, the configuration includes an option to fix the spawn point after the first login. When enabled, the player will receive a randomized spawn only once, and all subsequent respawns (without a bed) will return the player to that same initial location. Every spawnpoint is unique for every player.
The configuration file is automatically created after the mod’s first launch, and any changes require a full Minecraft restart to take effect.
Natural Temperature
This mod also works well with my Natural Temperature mod. By setting the z_range parameter to a value equal to twice the equatorial_distance defined by Natural Temperature, players can randomize in wich temperature band they will spawn.
