About this Mod
About
Uglifier is a lightweight client‑side mod that transforms Minecraft textures to make them ugly. It modifies textures at startup or on reload at runtime, it is fully compatible with modded textures and resource packs, and it has configurations.
Why It Exists
There is a phenomenon that occurs when you use terrible textures and then remove them after playing for a while; the Minecraft textures will look clear and crisp. Useful if you need to get readjusted to Minecraft's default texture after playing too much high-definition block game like Hytale or Vintage Story.
How It Works
Uglifier modifies textures through several steps:
- Pixel Spreading: randomly swaps nearby pixels.
- Hue Shifting: alters color tones and increases saturation.
- Noise Injection: adds some random noise to pixels.
- Color Reduction: lower color resolution for textures.
These processes make sure that every texture in the game looks terrible.

Uglifier server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Uglifier compatible with fabric and neoforge?
Uglifier officially supports fabric, neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.11. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Uglifier – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Uglifier consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
