About this Mod
Untamed Odyssey – Modrinth Description & Controls
🎮 Overview
Untamed Odyssey adds three fully‑tameable, rideable "mythical mounts" to Minecraft 1.16.5:
| Mount | Core Theme | Play‑style |
|---|---|---|
| Phoenix | Fiery rebirth & soaring | Fast aerial travel, flame‑glide, phoenix‑fire attacks |
| Sea Drake | Oceanic predator | Underwater agility, boat‑crushing, powerful roar |
| Sabertooth Tiger | Primal land predator | Sprint‑run, ambush pounce, roar‑stun |
All mounts share a unified taming / sit‑stay / follow system, a saddle for riding, and unique abilities that can be triggered while mounted. The mod also includes a set of custom sounds, particles, and a polished UI to make each creature feel premium and alive.
Goal: Provide a premium‑grade, visually striking mount system that feels “wow‑worthy” from the first glance, with smooth animations, dynamic particle effects, and responsive controls.
✨ Key Features
- Tame‑and‑Ride – Tame each creature with its natural food (e.g., raw cod for Phoenix, tropical fish for Sea Drake, meat for Tiger) and mount it instantly.
- Dynamic Rider Offset – Rider height smoothly follows the mount’s sit‑animation, eliminating floating when the mount is seated.
- Ability System – Each mount has a unique ability that can be triggered while riding:
| Mount | Ability | Activation | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phoenix | Flight | Right‑click while riding (or use the “fly” keybind) | Switches between FLYING, DESCENDING, and LANDED states, granting fast aerial travel. |
| Phoenix | Flame Glide (passive) | Auto‑applied when flying | Gives the rider Fire Resistance and a particle‑trail of flame. |
| Sea Drake | Roar | Press R while riding | Emits a roar that damages nearby mobs, applies knock‑back, and briefly silences the drake’s own roar cooldown. |
| Sea Drake | Boat Destroy (passive) | Auto‑applied when near a boat while riding | The boat shatters and all passengers are ejected with a small upward boost. |
| Sabertooth Tiger | Pounce | Double‑tap W while riding | A short‑range leap that deals high damage and briefly stuns the target. |
| Sabertooth Tiger | Roar | Press R while riding | Grants the rider Damage Resistance and creates a short‑range stun field. |
| All mounts | Follow / Stay | Shift + Right‑Click (while not riding) | Toggles between Stay (ordered‑to‑sit) and Follow (ordered‑to‑stand). |
- Smooth Animation –
sitProgress(0 → 10) drives a 10‑tick sit/stand animation for each mount, with the rider’s offset interpolating in‑sync. - Custom Sounds & Particles – Unique fire, roar, and hurt sounds (see
ModSounds), plus dynamic flame, water splash, and particle trails. - AI Goals – SitGoal, FollowOwnerGoal, TerritorialApexGoal, AmbushPounceGoal, WaterAvoidingRandomWalkingGoal, and a custom SeaDrake water‑wander goal ensure realistic behavior both when tamed and untamed.
- Compatibility – Works with Forge 36.2.0 (or later) on Minecraft 1.16.5, with no hard dependencies on other mods.
