About this Mod

Vanilla Debug Renderers

This is a very simple mod that enables the ability to use the debug renderers that exist in vanilla but are normally unavailable. To use, simply type /vdr toggle <renderer>

Renderers that can be used client-side only:

  • Water levels
  • Chunk borders
  • Height map
  • Collision box
  • Support blocks
  • Light (not sure what this does)
  • Solid faces
  • Chunk information
  • Game test (unknown functionality)
  • Sky light sections

Renderers that require this mod on both sides:

  • Pathfinding
  • Neighboring block updates
  • Structure generation
  • Entity brains
  • Bee information
  • Raid starting positions
  • Entity goal information
  • Game event listeners

This mod was mostly intended for modders but can also be used by anyone who wants to play around with this info.

For fabric, check out Fabric Debug Renderers. No forge backports are planned. Neo 1.20.2+ possible

Frequently Asked Questions

Vanilla Debug Renderers server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong neoforge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.20.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Vanilla Debug Renderers compatible with neoforge?

Vanilla Debug Renderers officially supports neoforge for Minecraft 1.20.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Vanilla Debug Renderers – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Vanilla Debug Renderers consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
