What is this mod?

This is a simple yet plentiful mod which is meant to assist Pioneers with transition to nuclear power without worrying about Uranium Waste. In addition it offers a separate small branch of nuclear production, where a new resource comes into play.

The resource in question is Thorium, it gets unlocked together with Uranium via Nuclear Power Milestone along everything to use it for nuclear power... Or something similar instead...


New items

- Thorium Ore - a raw resource you can find across the world. The to maximum amount of Thorium you can extract is 6300 units per minute. Fun fact: Its design has been inspired by SAM Ore, which has been a thing during game's early access.
- Enriched Thorium - Leached thorium ore which is ready to take part in thermodynamic processes required for Thorium nuclear power.
- Molten Salt - a calcium sulfate salt which serves as both coolant and secondary fuel.
- Thorium Fuel Container - a control system built specifically for reactions to be performed right inside of it.
- Thorium Fuel Rod - A compact Molten Salt Reactor which only needs to be put into proper environment, like in a Nuclear Power Plant, to start evaporating water and generate power this way. Be wary, these fuel rods are not as powerful as other ones, it's much more like Ficsonium in that regard.
- Thorium Waste - FICSIT does not waste! Not only all Thorium gets depleted in process, leaving no radiation, among the wastes there are remains of resources which could be recycled for later use.

Anything else?

Yes! Now, for extra Thorium utilities.

Enriched Thorium has another use. Combined with Uranium Waste and Concrete you can breed depleted Uranium to convert these ingredients into Encased Uranium Cells. Zero Uranium Waste!

Thorium Wastes are sinkable and NOT radioactive. However you can extract 50% of spent Thorium Fuel Containers and 33% of spent Molten Salt from them to use these items in Thorium Nuclear Power again. This chain hides unearthly potential...

Compatibility (Refined Power)

As you may or may not know, this isn't the first mod which adds Thorium. [Refined Power](https://ficsit.app/mod/RefinedPower) has done it long before, and I want to give a number of clarifications.

This mod isn't affiliated with Refined Power or Refined R&D team. The idea for current nod has been independently made due to events of 2025.04.17 with China creating the first opeartional molten salt reactor which uses Thorium. According to everything said, this mod does NOT provide any compatibility with Refined Power and may even be incompatible with it. Compatibility update isn't planned either and most likely won't be a thing.

Recommended Mods:

This mod is going to be a part of the modpack intended for reworking vanilla game's nuclear power production. List of recommended mods is going to be added later.
