Faster battles. Same Pixelmon.

A side-mod for Pixelmon that cuts out the waiting in battles, no more staring at the screen between turns.

⭐ So what does it do? 🤔

Pixelmon battles are great, but let's be honest, they can drag. Wild Pokémon take forever to decide on a move, animations play out slower than they need to, and every message sits on screen way longer than you actually need to read it. This mod speeds all of that up.

Trainer battles, wild encounters, doesn't matter, the AI picks its move faster, animations play quicker, and the turns just keep moving. Nothing about how battles work is changed, no new mechanics, no rebalancing. It's still the same Pixelmon, it just doesn't make you wait around for it.

Singleplayer or server-side, this is one of those mods where once you have it you can't go back.

🧠 Smarter, Faster AI 🤖

The biggest time sink in a Pixelmon battle is usually the wild or trainer Pokémon "thinking" about what move to use. This mod hooks straight into Pixelmon's AI (Tactical, Advanced, and Aggressive) and skips the slow simulation step where it's weighing out every possible outcome. Instead it grabs the real attack options and picks from those directly.

On top of that, once an AI has made its choice for a turn, that choice gets cached so it's not recalculated over and over if the game asks for it again. Less work, same decision, faster turn.

🎬 Animations That Don't Drag 🎞️

Health bars draining slowly, move animations playing out one at a time, waiting for the queue to clear before the next thing happens, all of that gets sped up. Animations still play, you still see your Pokémon use its move, it just doesn't take forever to finish.

You can also set a cap on how many animations are allowed to queue up at once, so things don't pile up and cause a backlog later in the fight.

⏱️ Turns Keep Moving 🔄

Ever notice that little pause right after you pick a move, before anything actually happens? This mod bypasses that gate so the game doesn't sit around waiting to advance turn logic once everyone's ready.

There's also a small buffer between actions (fully adjustable) so things don't feel rushed or choppy. Enough of a beat to read what happened, not enough to make you tap your foot. And when the game knows the next move belongs to the AI, it skips the "waiting on opponent" pause entirely.

💬 Faster Battle Text 📜

"[Pokémon] used [move]!" messages sit on your screen a lot longer than they need to by default. This mod lets you scale how long those messages hang around before the game moves on, so you're not sitting there after every single move waiting for text to clear.

🔧 Nice and Easy Config: 🔨

Everything is adjustable in the config, and it's commented so you know what you're touching.

From there you can:

1. Adjust the animation speed multiplier

2. Turn the AI fast path on or off

3. Change how many extra turn steps run per tick

4. Set the battle message speed

5. Adjust the inter-action buffer length

6. Toggle animation interrupting and set the max queue

7. Toggle the welcome message

You don't need to touch a single setting to get the benefit. Defaults are already tuned to feel fast without feeling broken.

😐 So why did I make it? ❓

  • Battles were just slow. I love Pixelmon, but sitting through the same animations and pauses over and over, especially when you're grinding out a route or running through trainers, gets old fast.
  • It adds up. A few seconds saved per turn doesn't sound like much until you're 40 battles into a grind session and you realize how much time you got back.
  • I didn't want it to feel cheap. This isn't about skipping animations entirely or making battles feel broken. Moves still play out, messages are still readable, it's just tightened up.
  • Servers benefit the most. If you've got a bunch of players battling at once, this keeps things snappy instead of everyone sitting through the same slow AI turns.

🗃️ Versions, Compatibility and Other Nerd Stuff 🛢️

  • The mod was made for Minecraft: 1.21.1. If you're on an older Pixelmon version, the code's open source if someone wants to take a crack at porting it.
  • Built for NeoForge, since that's what modern Pixelmon runs on.
  • This mod requires Pixelmon 9.3.16. It hooks directly into the battle and AI code, so if a Pixelmon update changes that code around, this will need an update to match.
  • Works fine in singleplayer and on servers, and plays nice alongside my other Pixelmon side-mods.

This needs to be installed on the server for battles to actually speed up. If you're running singleplayer, that's just your client acting as the server, so you're covered either way.

❤️ Thanks to the Pixelmon team 😁

None of this exists without Pixelmon. The amount of work that's gone into building and maintaining a mod this big, for this long, is genuinely something else. This mod is just a small add-on riding on top of everything they've built. Huge thanks to everyone on the Pixelmon dev team for the years of work and for still supporting it today. Go check out the base mod and support what they do.
