TNT Logic - Realistic Explosion Physics : Realism Meets Ruin

⚠️ IMPORTANT VERSION NOTICE: When downloading or updating to a newer version of this mod, please be aware that core mechanics and physics behaviors may have changed. We recommend reviewing the changelog and testing the new version in a backup world, as updates can significantly alter how explosions and structural collapses interact with your builds.

⚠️ A Note on Realism and Responsibility

With the introduction of realistic physics, TNT is no longer just a simple mining tool - it is now a weapon of mass demolition. Because a single blast can trigger a catastrophic structural failure, players should handle these materials with extreme caution. For those seeking a truly immersive experience, we recommend treating TNT as a high-tier resource; its newfound destructive potential is so significant that it may even warrant a more difficult crafting recipe to reflect its power. Use it wisely, or watch your world crumble.

Destruction, Reimagined

Vanilla Minecraft explosions are instant - one tick, and a sphere of blocks simply disappears. TNT Logic changes that completely. When an explosion occurs, affected blocks don't vanish. Instead, they lose structural support and start to fall, carrying everything above them down in a cascading, realistic collapse.

The result looks exactly like what you'd expect from real demolition: the base crumbles, the walls lean, and the roof caves in. Block by block. One after another.

How the Collapse Works

The mod hooks into the game's explosion event and replaces the standard block removal with a physics-based fall simulation. Here is the process:

  1. Detonation: TNT detonates and marks all blocks within its blast radius as unstable.
  2. Support Check: Each unstable block checks whether it still has valid support beneath it.
  3. Physics Conversion: Unsupported blocks convert into falling block entities and begin to drop.
  4. Chain Reaction: As they fall, neighboring blocks that relied on them for support are re-evaluated, triggering a reaction that spreads through the structure.
  5. Impact: Falling blocks land, break, and drop their items just like sand or gravel would.

The bigger and taller the structure, the more dramatic the collapse. A single TNT at the base of a tower can bring the entire thing down.

Features

  • Realistic structural collapse triggered by any explosion source.
  • Chain reactions - falling blocks destabilize their neighbors.
  • Works with TNT, creepers, beds in the Nether, respawn anchors in the Overworld, and mod-added explosions.

Performance

The collapse simulation runs on the server thread, calculating structural support in real time. For most builds, the experience is completely smooth and lag is imperceptible.

However, when a very large structure — think a massive stone castle or a densely packed city — collapses all at once, the simulation may cause brief lag spikes. Smaller, controlled demolitions are always smooth.

Smooth Performance May Cause Lag Spikes
  • Small houses and towers
  • Underground bases
  • Controlled demolition (1–2 TNT)
  • Singleplayer worlds
  • Massive multi-storey structures
  • Heavily chained TNT arrays
  • Dense city builds
  • Low-end servers with many players

Tips

  • Foundations: Place TNT at the base of a structure for the most dramatic full collapse.
  • Directional Demolition: Use multiple TNT charges at strategic points to dictate the direction of a collapse.
  • Server Management: On servers, consider limiting TNT chain sizes if you notice significant lag.
  • Visuals: Pair with a shader pack — the dust and particle effects from collapsing blocks look incredible.

Häufige Fragen

TNT Logic - Realistic Explosion Physics Server crasht beim Start – was tun?
