Grid Engineering
Make Power Grids More Sophisticated
About this Mod
Grid Engineering
Grid Engineering is a power transmission mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge.
This mod goes beyond simply transferring FE through cables and focuses on designing electrical grids that take Voltage, Amperage, and Power Loss into account.
Inspired by GregTech's power system, Grid Engineering avoids forcing players into complicated machine voltage tiers or punishing them with machine explosions from overvoltage. Instead, players are encouraged to build efficient power infrastructure by considering cable performance, voltage ratings, transmission distance, and amperage limits.
Features
Voltage system
Amperage system
Distance-based power loss
Configurable voltage tiers
Configurable cable properties
Compatibility with FE-based mods
Large-scale power grid support
Long-distance power transmission optimization
Grid Engineering is not about protecting machines. It is about designing and optimizing power grids.
Why use this mod?
Many FE cable systems simply transfer power without any meaningful limitations.
Grid Engineering makes power transmission just as important as power generation.
Which cable should you use?
How far should you transmit power?
Should you increase voltage?
Should you increase amperage?
These decisions become meaningful and impactful.
Optimizing your power network becomes a gameplay challenge of its own.
Planned Features
Quantum Power Tunnel (wireless transmission)
Interdimensional Power Transfer
Data-driven Voltage Tier System
Data-driven Cable System
API for mod developers
Development Status
Grid Engineering is currently in an early stage of development.
Features may change, and both systems and balancing will continue to evolve over time.
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome.
This is not a finished project, and I will continue improving and refining it to create a better power grid experience.

Note1: This mod was originally created for use in my personal modpack. Because of this, it includes some uncommon materials such as NTT Alloy and NBB Alloy, which are custom alloys from my own projects and modpack progression.
Note 2: This mod does not provide its own progression system.
For the best experience, it is recommended to customize and integrate the recipes into your modpack using Data Packs, KubeJS, or other progression tools.

Grid Engineering server crashes on startup – what to do?
Most common cause: wrong neoforge version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.1). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.
Is Grid Engineering compatible with neoforge?
Grid Engineering officially supports neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.
Server lagging with Grid Engineering – how to optimize performance?
Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Grid Engineering consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
