About this Mod

Initially part of the Overskip data pack, Nether Weather is an addition to Minecraft that aims to make the Nether feel more like a real place by introducing 3 new weather types to it. You will now encounter lavafalls, storms and heatblasts (which replace storms in the Nether Wastes) that correspond to Overworld weather events.

The lavafalls can set entities on fire, the storms can hurt them with their strong winds and heatblasts make almost any block as hot as a Magma Block. These weather events not only greatly impact the gameplay and make the Nether more exciting and deadly, but also provide more atmosphere to the dimension with sounds and particles.

Watch the video below to get the full details on how the weather works and the lore intentions behind it.

Attention! Some of the information in the video is outdated. Check the v1.1 video/changelog out for details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Nether Weather server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong datapack version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Nether Weather compatible with datapack and fabric and forge and neoforge and quilt?

Nether Weather officially supports datapack, fabric, forge, neoforge, quilt for Minecraft 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.9. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Nether Weather – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Nether Weather consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
