About this Mod

ViaRewind

ViaVersion addon to allow 1.8.x and 1.7.x clients on newer server versions.

Runs on 1.9-latest servers or 1.8 clients and lower.

You can override the included version in ViaFabric or ViaProxy:

in ViaFabric, put ViaRewind into the mods folder
in ViaProxy, put ViaRewind into the jars folder

Requires Java 17. See here how to update your installed Java version. As a last resort, you can download Java 8 downgraded builds from our ci.

Requires ViaVersion and ViaBackwards to be installed..

How to Install ViaRewind on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set bungeecord Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the bungeecord loader and matching Minecraft version (26.2).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "ViaRewind". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

ViaRewind server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong bungeecord version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (26.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is ViaRewind compatible with bungeecord and fabric and folia and paper and sponge and velocity?

ViaRewind officially supports bungeecord, fabric, folia, paper, sponge, velocity for Minecraft 26.2, 26.1.2, 26.1.1. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with ViaRewind – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if ViaRewind consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge.
