About this Mod

logo for the mod
A Few Effects is a mod that adds 4 new potion effects to the game (3 positive, 1 negative): Largestep, Antigravity, Vulnerability, and Reaching. These can all be brewed in game, using specific items. The mod also adds brewable resistance potions, and a new mob found in the soul sand valley.

Potions and Effects

Starting with largestep, its potions can be brewed using a saddle, and when a player drinks the potion, they gain the largestep effect, letting them walk up 1-block high walls like a horse would or like they would walk up slabs or stairs. This is useful for quick transport, or if you are tired of jumping.

Antigravity potions can be brewed using shulker shells, and when a player drinks its potion, their gravity is reduced by 15% per level of antigravity. Potions can go up to antigravity III, letting players jump at 55% of normal gravity and being able to jump up two blocks. Antigravity is different than jump boost, as it affects gravity in general instead of increasing jump height. The two can be stacked, too, letting players jump up four blocks with ease.

Vulnerability is the mod's only negative potion effect. It is practically the opposite of resistance, reducing the player's armor by 20% per level. Vulnerability potions can be brewed by corrupting resistance potions (brewed using golden apples), and can go up to vulnerability II. Vulnerability can also be inflicted by the a new mob, the decay, which will be talked about more later.

Reaching is the last effect added, and can be brewed using scaffolding (I genuinely did not know what to use, so I just used scaffolding since I think it fits the best). Reaching increases the player's block and entity reach by one block per level, and potions can go up to reaching II, letting players place block from 5 blocks in the air or hit enemies from very far away.

(Effect icons in game are completely opaque, instead of having some transparent parts.)

The Decay

The decay is a new mob found in the soul sand valley. It is another zombie variant, similar to that of the drowned or husk. They are slightly stronger than zombies (12 hp instead of 10, 4 dmg per hit instead of 3.5), and, like mentioned before, will inflict Vulnerability when players are hit, reducing the power of their armor. When killed, it drops experience and soul sand, and are overall a good addition to the nether (in my humble opinion!).

Overall, A Few Effects is designed to add new potions effects and expand on the concept of hostile mobs that inflict effects. I tried to keep the mod vanilla+, and I feel like it is a good addition to modded minecraft if you want to keep a fairly vanilla feel to the game.
