About this Mod

Villagers now generate with random aptitudes for certain professions. When levelling those professions, provide the villager with a Tome of Aptitude to unlock extra trades! No more unfortunate accidents for librarians with bad enchantments or clerics with no ender pearls!

Future plans:

Special abilities for high-aptitude villagers, e.g. librarians upgrading all enchants on a book by 1 or rerolling them within same rarity.
Nitwit aptitudes: convert nitwit to a random profession with a uniquely high aptitude!

How to Install Aptitude on Your Server

Order Server

Order a Minecraft Java server with at least 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended).

Set quilt Loader

In the panel under "Egg", select the quilt loader and matching Minecraft version (1.19.2).

Install Mod

Open the mod browser in the dashboard and search for "Aptitude". Click "Install" – done! Alternatively, upload the .jar via SFTP to the /mods folder.

Aptitude server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong quilt version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.19.2). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Aptitude compatible with quilt?
