About this Mod

Changes players' movement speed depending on the armor they are wearing (and if they have a shield in their offhand).
It scales with the total armor points, and how many pieces of armor you have equipped.

Also, the mod doesn't care if you have a shield in your main hand. This is because I think the tradeoff of losing a hotbar slot and having to manually pull it out is balanced.

The Fabric version has a custom config thingy because either the documentation for both Cloth Config and YACL is either missing how to set it up in versions past 1.20.x, or I didn't look hard enough. You have to edit it manually in your game's config directory, but at least it refreshes without having to restart or reopen the world; Just do /reload.

If you set "mobs" to false in the config, already affected mobs will keep their speed until they die.

The Fabric and NeoForge versions might work on 1.21.9+, but I can't test it currently. You can test it yourself if you want; If it crashes on launch or when loading a world, it's broken.

Also, I removed the source link because I realized far too late that I forgot to actually commit changes to the repository and I don't want it to look like I linked a fake repo.

Frequently Asked Questions

Armor Speed server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.8). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Armor Speed compatible with fabric and forge and neoforge?

Armor Speed officially supports fabric, forge, neoforge for Minecraft 1.21.8, 1.21.7, 1.21.6. Note: Forge and Fabric mods are NOT cross-compatible – pick one loader and stick with it. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Armor Speed – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Armor Speed consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
