About this Mod

AutoFish is a tiny client-side helper that takes the repetition out of fishing.

Usage

  1. Equip a fishing rod in your main hand and stand at the edge of water.
  2. Press O to toggle AutoFish on. The action bar shows AutoFish: ON.
  3. Look at the water and let the mod take over - it will cast the rod, watch the bobber, reel in the moment a fish bites, and cast again.
  4. Press O again to turn it off.

How it works

AutoFish watches the bobber's downward velocity. The vanilla bite animation pulls the bobber straight down for a few ticks; the mod catches that velocity dip, triggers the same right-click your hand would have used, and then waits a short cooldown before casting again. No mixins, no packet spoofing - only the same actions a human player would perform.

Notes

  • Designed for singleplayer. Many multiplayer servers block auto-fishing in their rules; check before using.
  • Works with any fishing rod, including enchanted and Luck-of-the-Sea variants.
  • Toggles off automatically if you swap to a non-rod item, walk away, or open a screen.

Compatibility

  • Minecraft 1.21.8 - 1.21.11
  • Fabric + Fabric API
  • Client-only, safe to drop in your mods folder on a vanilla server.

Frequently Asked Questions

Auto-Fish server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is Auto-Fish compatible with fabric?

Auto-Fish officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.9. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with Auto-Fish – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if Auto-Fish consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
