About this Mod

The stonecutter does it for stone. Now wood gets the same treatment.

The Woodcutter is a craftable block that lets you convert logs directly into stairs, slabs, fences, doors, signs, shelves, and more, all from a single station, without ever opening a crafting table.

Place it down, drop in a log, and every cut available for that wood type appears at once. Click one, pull the output. That's it.

Why another woodcutter mod?

Because the existing ones are not vanilla friendly, and it's not subtle. 1 log -> 12 signs. That's not a convenience tool. That's a free resource exploit.

The Woodcutter uses a custom multi-input recipe type specifically to avoid this. The vanilla StonecutterRecipe only consumes one item per craft, which makes honest ratios mathematically impossible for some outputs. This mod solves it properly: recipes can require multiple logs as input, so the math always works out exactly.

Every recipe is derived directly from the vanilla crafting table equivalent. No rounding up, no freebies, no fudging.

The Woodcutter saves clicks. It never saves resources.

What's in the box

Crafting the block: 1 iron ingot + 3 logs (any wood). Same recipe shape as the stonecutter.

Supported inputs: Normal logs, stripped logs, and wood/bark blocks from all 11 families: oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, pale oak, crimson, and warped, plus blocks of bamboo. Feed in what you have; the cutter accepts all of them.

Outputs per wood family:
Planks, Stairs, Slab, Fence, Fence Gate, Door, Trapdoor, Pressure Plate, Button, Sign, Shelf, Stripped Log, Wood Block, Stick

Bamboo extras:
Bamboo Mosaic, Bamboo Mosaic Stairs, Bamboo Mosaic Slab

Generic utility (any wood input):
Ladder, Chest, Barrel, Crafting Table

Recipe visibility: Full JEI integration. Every recipe is browsable in-game. No guessing.

GUI

The interface mirrors the stonecutter exactly: input slot on the left, scrollable recipe grid in the middle, output slot on the right.

Each recipe entry shows a ratio tag (3>8) so you know the input cost and output count at a glance before you click. Recipes you can't currently afford are greyed out but still visible. Drop in more logs and they unlock. Hovering gives the full tooltip: "Requires 3 oak logs -> 8 oak stairs."

Design philosophy

Vanilla-friendly by design. No config file, no generous mode, no toggles. The honest ratios aren't a default you can turn off. They're the whole point.

No villager job site. The Woodcutter is a player tool, not an economy block.

Works on servers. Recipe validation is fully server-side; no client-trust exploits.
