About this Mod

BarkLock

BarkLock is a simple utility mod that tackles a common builder blunder: accidentally stripping the bark off log blocks. When you’ve got an axe in hand or you’re mid-build, it’s easy to misclick and ruin a log’s look. This mod adds a tiny safety net to keep that from happening.

With BarkLock installed, right-clicking a log with an axe does nothing—the bark stays put. If you actually want to take the bark off, just hold the sneak key (Shift) while right-clicking.

Main features:

Safety first: Stops accidental log edits while you’re moving around or building.

Simple mechanic: No fiddly menus or settings. Sneak to bypass the lock only when you need to.

Server friendly: Install it on a server to protect the world for everyone. Players don’t need the mod on their own setup to benefit from the protection.

Performance: Tiny footprint, no hit to frame rate or loading times.

Installation and compatibility: Built for Fabric Loader, compatible with Minecraft 1.21-1.21.11. Drop the jar into your mods folder and you’re good to go.

Frequently Asked Questions

BarkLock server crashes on startup – what to do?

Most common cause: wrong fabric version or insufficient RAM. Check the server log (latest.log) for "OutOfMemoryError" or "Mixin" errors. With Mado Hosting: ensure at least 3 GB RAM is allocated and the loader matches the mod version (1.21.11). You can switch loaders with one click in the panel.

Is BarkLock compatible with fabric?

BarkLock officially supports fabric for Minecraft 1.21.11, 1.21.10, 1.21.9. The Mado dashboard automatically detects incompatible loader combinations.

Server lagging with BarkLock – how to optimize performance?

Recommended RAM: 4 GB (per 8 players). Use /spark profiler to check if BarkLock consumes the most tick time. Common fixes: reduce server view-distance to 8-10, install "performant" or "starlight" as supplementary mods on Forge. With Mado Hosting, your server runs on NVMe SSDs with dedicated CPU cores for minimal latency.
